Be'eri Niego
Dr Be’eri Niego has over 20 years of experience in cardiovascular research. His earlier studies into stroke and thrombolysis, for which he was also awarded his PhD (2013), were dedicated to the improvement of t-PA utilisation in stroke and development of new thrombolytic agents (such as Desmoteplase) in the laboratory of Prof Robert Medcalf, Monash University. in 2018, Be'eri joined nanotechnology expert Prof Christoph Hagemeyer to extend his expertise inro sophisticated drug delivery systems and advanced molecular imaging techniques of cardiac fibrosis. Be'eri's research has been recognised by a Heart Foundation Fellowship (2016-17), a Heart Foundation Vanguard Grant (2023-24), and more recently by an NHMRC Ideas Grant (2025; CIE) and a CASS Foundation Grant (2025). Be’eri has published 40 original and Review articles, including first/lead-author papers in premier journals, such as Blood (2012). He continues to develop targeted thrombolytic agents and smarter ways for their delivery, with the hope to contribute to research breakthroughs in emergency treatment of stroke.
